Our Voices

Our Voices series came about after seeing a viral moment of Angela Bassett losing an Oscar for 'Best Supporting Actress' in 2023. During the award ceremony, after learning she had lost, was visibly upset and made no attempt to conceal her emotions.

This sparked in me a conversation of evaluating and analyzing how our voices are seen and heard in the world. I chose women who demonstrate strength, self awareness, confidence and are unapologetically them. The blurred mouths and distortions are my interpretation of this voice journey that we are on. I believe progress has been made but there is still work to do.
